TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Week 13 of the National Football League concluded on Monday night. Below is a look at former Crimson Tide players who stood out last week.
Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. Hurts contributed four total touchdowns on the day, completing 28-of-39 passes for 380 yards and three scores through the air while adding one rushing touchdown across five carries. One of Hurts’ top targets in the game was former Alabama teammate DeVonta Smith. The second-year standout accumulated 102 yards and a touchdown on five receptions to ensure a 35-10 win over the Tennessee Titans.
Raiders running back Josh Jacobs continued his impressive season, carrying the ball 26 times for 144 yards and a score while adding two receptions for six yards in Las Vegas’ 27-20 win over the Chargers. His performance earned Jacobs FedEx Air and Ground Player of the Week recognition for a second straight week. Rounding out the offensive group was Washington Commanders’ running back Brian Robinson Jr. The rookie rushed 21 times for 96 yards and caught two passes for 15 yards.
Minkah Fitzpatrick highlighted the group of former Alabama defenders with another strong outing in the Steelers’ secondary. The safety tallied seven tackles, including a tackle for loss, while adding one pass defense and an interception. Fitzpatrick’s pick effectively sealed the game to help Pittsburgh outlast the Atlanta Falcons for a 21-17 win.
A trio of defensive lineman posted dominant performances this past week, including Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen of the Washington Commanders along with the New York Jets’ Quinnen Williams. Payne totaled four tackles, including two sacks, to go with a pair of quarterback hurries, and was complemented on the defensive line by Allen, who recorded eight tackles, a sack, one quarterback pressure and a forced fumble. Williams notched five tackles, three of which went for loss including one sack, while adding two quarterback hurries and one pass breakup.
