Austin Siereveld
School: Lakota East (Ohio).
Position: Interior Offensive Line.
Height, weight: 6-foot-5, 320 pounds.
247Sports rating: Four-star prospect rated the No. 11 interior offensive lineman, the No. 15 player in Ohio and the No. 246 player in the country according to the 247Sports composite ratings.
Other offers: Alabama, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee, Toledo and West Virginia.
What’s his deal?
It’s always felt like Siereveld’s value was higher than his actual recruiting ranking ever was. Before helping OSU go three-for-three on in-state offensive line targets, there was a time when heading south for Alabama was a real possibility for him. Sometimes the context of who you’re fighting a player for can outweigh his high school ranking when trying to evaluate him.
Fortunately for the Buckeyes, that never went anywhere, as he eventually chose OSU in hopes of bringing back the days when the offensive line was heavy on in-state players.
How he fits into Ohio State’s plans
Siereveld can play all three interior spots on the offensive line and already has the needed size to do so, even if it will need to be defined some for the college level. He seems like a prime candidate to try out at center before moving to either guard spot.
Projections for 2023
Spots in the two-deep will be open this offseason for anyone to grab whether that be incoming true freshmen or OOSU looking to build more depth through plug-and-play guys in the transfer portal. Siereveld will have every opportunity to claim one of those spots, similar to how we’ve watched Tegra Tshabola do so as a true freshman this season.
